Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - The district's first-ever school wide oral health education program kicked off Thursday at the Northern Lights Elementary School in Superior.
"Just Kids Dental" was joined by representatives from the United Way-Superior as well as the Superior School Superintendent, making the promise that every second and third grade student at the school would leave with a new toothbrush.
"Just Kids Dental" Executive Director Stacey Anderson says most dental health care problems are easily preventable.
"Dental health in America is truly in crisis. Dental disease is the number one health issue facing children today, and it is also largely preventable; So our passion, and dedication, is serving children where they're located most, in the schools."
Students also had the chance to see one of the most elusive creatures on earth, the tooth fairy.
She was on hand to help hand out dental treat packs to the students teachers to give to the students at the end of the day.
