Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Three blocks of Duluth's Lincoln Park neighborhood were closed off to cars Sunday afternoon so people could take time to meet on the street.

The four hour event was sponsored by a number of Northland organizations, including the Healthy Duluth Area Coalition, and the Lincoln Park Business Group.

Organizers say the free event's aim was to engage the Lincoln Park community through entertaining and educational activities, while connecting them the myriad of opportunities that different area groups have to offer.

"For our educational purposes we're doing science activities. [For] our recreational and fun activities... we're doing parachute games, getting families and kids involved, and really saying 'here's what we do,' said Dustin Anderson, of the Boys and Girls Club. "We have these wonderful staff members that are showcasing what we do inside our buildings."

Organizers say over 1,00 people came out to the festivities Sunday afternoon.
