Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Owls Club in Duluth was the epicenter for a fundraiser Sunday that aimed to make the return to normal a reality for one Northlander.
Stephan Mahlberg, also known as "Gomez," and guitarist of popular Duluth music group The Accelerati, was the victim of a kitchen fire in his West Duluth home last Sunday.
While the clean up efforts and the investigation are still underway, Mahlberg and his girlfriend have found a temporary home with a mutual friend.
But in the meantime they're saving what they can to afford a move into a new home, or apartment.
To make lighter the cost of recovery, the Owls Club threw a silent auction and live concert to raise funds for "Gomez."
"There's a lot of people down here. Most people I recognize, a few people are friends of friends that I don't know right off, but it's pretty cool that they put this together for me," said a happy Mahlberg in the back of the Owls Club.
Along with the Silk Sheiks, The Acceleratii also took center stage.
Anyone wishing to donate to Mahlberg's recovery can do so at the Duluth Owls Club.
