Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Part of Martin Road in Duluth will close next week as crews start construction for the next month.
Work begins Monday to resurface a five-mile stretch of Martin Road between Rice Lake Road and Jean Duluth Road. In addition to the resurfacing, workers will replace select curbs and gutters, storm sewers and culverts.
On Wednesday, crews will close down a two mile stretch of Martin Road that will last about a month through mid-October. During this time, residents will be allowed in the construction zone to access their home, though the direction from which they may enter or exit will change as the project progresses.
No other traffic will be permitted through the construction zone. Detour signs will direct motorists around the work zone using Arnold, West Tischer and Jean Duluth Roads.
Motorists are urged to use caution when traveling through the work zone. Approximately 7,000 vehicles travel this section of Martin Road each day.
The total cost for the construction project is estimated at $4 million.
