Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Academy Award winning actress, Patty Duke, is in Duluth this week, taking part in the Duluth Superior–Film Festival.

Duke first came to Duluth in 1972 to film "You'll Like My Mother" at Glensheen Mansion. Tuesday she was back at Glensheen for the second time since making the movie.

"This is something I did 40 years ago. It's part of a history," said Duke during a press conference Tuesday.

During the filming of "You'll Like My Mother," Duke says she was dealing with an off–screen struggle with bipolar disorder. After waiting years to get help, the leading lady has now stepped in to what may be one of the most impactful roles of her career, helping others who are going through the same.

"Sometimes, if someone is going through that kind of depression or that kind of mania, it helps to be able to talk to someone who has already been through it," Duke said.

Duke is speaking at Amberwing in Duluth on Thursday, May 29.

A showing of 'You'll Like My Mother' will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, June 1 at Glensheen as part of the Duluth–Superior Film Festival.

All showings at the Film Festival are free.
