Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- For a growing college student population in Duluth, living next to a coffee shop can come with its perks.

At least, that's what the owners of Perk Place Coffeehouse and Bakery in the city's Kenwood neighborhood hope incoming freshmen realize.

Granted, Perk Place opened about eight months ago, but with a red ribbon cutting led by the Duluth Chamber of Commerce, spokespeople say it's finally official.

Located in the Kenwood Shopping Plaza, the coffeehouse decided to highlight its grand opening this weekend with a little party for its customers.

"Yeah, the coupon wheel," laughed Manager Ria Tahkar, "the customer just spins it. There's 6 different coupons on here, like a free coffee with a muffin, and a buy one, get one; pretty good deals," she added.

Other parts of the celebration included free will donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and an ice bucket challenge earlier Saturday morning.
