Grand Rapids, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The sister of a Grand Rapids man killed in a plane crash in Ontario Friday says he and his wife loved the outdoors, and had generous spirits.

Police identified the victims as 41–year–old Nikolas Rajala, 40–year–old Teresa Rajala, and 37–year–old Lynn Bohanon, all of Grand Rapids.

The Kenora Detachment of OPP says their Cessna 182 aircraft crashed Friday south of Kenora on Dora Lake.

Nikolas Rajala's sister Allison Rajala Achan describes her brother as an excellent, experienced pilot who loved his family and friends, and challenged them to do new things.

"Nick, Theresa, and Lynn, all three of them—great friends. They loved the outdoors so much," said Achan over the phone Sunday. "They were outside every moment they could—everything from ice fishing to flying. They were the kinds of people that you could just see on their faces how much they loved God's nature."

The trio had been staying at an area fishing lodge and had attended Dora Lake to fish for the day.

A signal from an Emergency Locator Transmitter on Dora Lake prompted the emergency response.

An investigation into what caused the crash is ongoing.
