Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Duluth Police are searching for a suspect, or suspects, involved in a drive–by shooting on the 300 block of West 21st Avenue in Lincoln Park. Three to five shots were fired, according to police.

On the 300 block of 21st Ave. West no fewer than nine Duluth Police squad cars were patrolling the area. Members of the Crime Scene Investigation unit blocked off the area to traffic just after 2 p.m. today.

Investigators were combing the ground up and down this block for any evidence related to what neighbors describe as multiple gunshots. Specifically, they focused most of their attention on a grey pick–up truck, which could be seen leaking a fluid, possibly gas.

While we could not confirm it with police on scene, at least one neighbor said the truck had been struck by a bullet. Others said they saw a vehicle driving away from the scene, toward the freeway, shortly after.

25–year–old Megan Cassar has lived along the block for six years and says, occasional disturbances aside, nothing like this has happened before. Cassar's daughter Tana was the one who told her she had heard the shots, and knew they were more than firecrackers.

"Just the simple fact that something like that can happen in a split second is pretty scary, especially when I have little kids,” Cassar said.

Cassar says her children and other neighborhood children often ride their bikes up and down 21st Ave. West on nice days like today. No one is reported injured by the reported gunfire. Police are still searching for a suspect, or suspects, involved in the reported shots fired.

They're also looking for a motive for the action. Authorities also say this was not a random act.
