Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- For the rest of the week, the 148th Fighter Wing will be conducting readiness exercises which could include simulated explosions and smoke.
The Minnesota National Guard's 148th Fighter Wing will be conducting the readiness exercises from June 26th to June 30th.
"The purpose of this exercise is to provide realistic training to our members and to prepare for future readiness inspections or combat missions," said Air Force Capt. Jodi Kiminski, 148th Fighter Wing Executive Officer.
Officials say residents may see increased vehicle traffic and hear alarms and sirens. In addition, there will be simulated explosions and bomb blasts creating noise and smoke that may be heard and seen on and near the base.
The majority of the activities will be conducted on Friday and Saturday. Residents may also hear increased noise levels due to jets flying from early morning to late in the evening.
