Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Residents in Duluth and Hermantown may see increased vehicle traffic and hear alarms and simulated explosions this week as the 148th Fighter Wing conducts readiness exercises.

The Minnesota National Guard's 148th Fighter Wing is scheduled to conduct a readiness exercise from July 17th to July 21st.

"The purpose of this exercise is to provide realistic training to our members and to prepare for future readiness inspections or combat missions," said Air Force Capt. Jodi Kiminski, 148th Fighter Wing Executive Officer.

Residents in the area may see increased vehicle traffic, hear alarms and sirens as well as hear simulated explosions and bomb blasts that may create smoke.

Residents may also hear increased noise level from jets flying from early morning to late in the evening.

Authorities say a majority of the activities will be conducted on Friday and Saturday.
