Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The American Red Cross is helping two adults and a child following a fire that destroyed the family's home on Wednesday.

When fire crews arrived at North 63rd Avenue West around 1:45 Wednesday morning, they found the enclosed front porch engulfed in flames.

A mother and child were home at the time the fire broke out. The mother was awakened by the 4-year-old, who told her their smoke alarms were sounding.

Both were able to get out of the house unharmed.

Fire officials set damage at about $25,000 for the house and another $15,000 loss for the contents.

The Red Cross helps provide disaster relief for immediate recovery needs such as ahsleter, clothing, food and emotional support.
