Red Flag Warning issues for Park Point beaches, officials urge no swimming

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Duluth Fire Department has issued a Red Flag Warning for Park Point beaches, effective immediately, until 10 Monday morning.

The Red Flag warning means that wind and/or wave conditions along the beaches currently support deadly rip currents.

Rip currents are life-threatening to anyone entering the surf, and officers advise everyone to stay out of the water regardless of swimming experience.

Currently, there are no lifeguards at Park Point.

If you are ever caught in a rip current, experts say don’t panic, and swim parallel to the shore until the current’s pull weakens. Then calmly swim toward shore at an angle.
