Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.COM) --- Registration for this winter's Duluth Polar Bear Plunge is now open. The annual plunge into Lake Superior off Canal Park will be February 16th this year. Check-ins will be at Grandma's Sports Garden and people start dipping into the chilly water at 3 p.m. The plunge is presented by Minnesota law enforcement as part of the year-round Law enforcement torch run events. About 1,000 people took the plunge last winter, raising more than $169,000 to support Special Olympics Minnesota. Each participant must raise a minimum of $75.
