Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The White House has reached out to Minnesota Eighth District Congressman Rick Nolan, following his clear, public stance yesterday, against any form of a U.S. strike on Syria.
"It will cost $500 million to set up the strike on Syria, that it will cost us a billion dollars a week—and that's with no boots on the ground... simple missiles, and a no–fly zone only. So that's one more item that wasn't on the table a few days ago," said Rep. Nolan to a crowd of Northlanders during his visit to University of minnesota Duluth campus Wednesday.
That was a summary of the latest message Representative Nolan received from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, while he was on UMD campus, earlier today.
The Congressman was contacted by the White House in the hours following an interview in which he openly voiced his dissent on a U.S. military strike against Syria.
Representative Nolan says any form of U.S. intervention will lead to an escalation of killing, and a doubling down of support for the Assad regime from Russia, China, and Iran.
