Zach Vavricka rappelled off a 9 story building...and all in support of downtown Duluth.
As part of the Sidewalk Days Festival, The Greater Downtown Council will host Over the Edge tomorrow. The event serves as a fundraiser in an effort to better downtown Duluth.
Approximately 30 brave souls will strap up and go over the edge of the Sellwood building downtown.
Right before he climbed over the edge today Zach explained what gear is needed for safe rappelling.
"This is the harness and it actually, typically when I've worn a harness theres only been a bottom part, this has a top part. This is basically the backup that goes on a separate rope and this is the ...device that's going to help me control my speed going down the rope. And a helmet. Got to stay safe."
The first rappellers began their decent 10 am.
