Rip current warnings extended to Duluth beaches Wednesday

June 24, 2014 Updated Jun 25, 2014 at 10:24 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Swimming at Duluth beaches is dangerous right now because of the risk of rip currents.

Park Point, 12th St. and Lafayette Square beaches are under rip current warnings from now until 10 a.m. Thursday. Strong winds and waves are creating a high risk of rip currents which are life–threatening to anyone in the water – even experienced swimmers.

A rip current warning is a recommendation, meaning swimming is not advised. The city is not responsible for any injury/death caused from swimming at a public beach that has been declared a 'rip current warning' beach.
