Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- In honor of his memory and his love for animals, the family of Kevin Ferris is doing something special to help out Animal Allies Humane Society.

During Animal Allies' upcoming Open house and Adopt-a-thon on April 12th and 13th, flowers from "The Rose Man" store will be sold as a fundraiser for the shelter.

“Kevin so loved animals. We felt that Animal Allies could use the flowers in way that would honor Kevin and make a difference for all of the cats and dogs that come through the shelter,” says Roz Randorf, Kevin’s fiancée.

Animal Allies will give a rose to each visitor while supplies last. The public may also purchase bunches of "The Rose Man's" flowers from Animal Allies during the event, while supplies last.

Proceeds from the flowers will be used for the care and feeding of the cats, kittens, dogs and puppies at the Duluth and Superior Shelters.

“We are honored by the family’s desire to support our mission. Kevin, “The Rose Man” was a kind and generous person. The flower sales during our event will be a great tribute to him and make a difference
to the cats and dogs in our care,” states Rick Sailstad, Executive Director.

The Open House and Adopt-a-thon begins at 10 a.m. Friday, April 12th. To learn more about the Open House and the Adopt-a-thon visit, you can head to the Animal Allies website.

Kevin Ferris died in a plane crash back on March 29th near Hawley, MN. Ferris had left from the Superior Bong Airport that morning headed for Moorhead Municipal Airport to visit family.

Ferris worked at the Northland's Newscenter as a control room operator before opening the flower shop, "The Rose Man" in 2011.
