Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- The Bong Bridge in Superior is the next big construction project in the works for the city.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be adding a first-of-it's kind roundabout exit at the foot of the Bong Bridge on the Superior side.
A roundabout is a circular road that will guide traffic off the bridge without using stop signs or traffic lights.
One leg of the roundabout will take traffic on to Belknap Street, while the other will funnel traffic to Winter Street in Superior's North end.
Brian Mattson with the Wisconsin D-O-T says the round-about will take some getting used to since we don't have any others like it in the area.
"I'm sure it will be a little confusing at first but for the most part they are not a new thing. They are all over the place and we'll get use to it," said Mattson.
The round about will cost between four and six hundred thousand dollars but is expected to be a much safer traffic route.
Work is expected to begin in spring of 20-14.
