Scam eviction email hitting Wisconsinites inbox

Madison, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Don't pack your things and move out of your home if you get an email in Wisconsin stating you're evicted. It's a scam! A valid eviction notice in Wisconsin will not come to you by email.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) warns recipients to delete these emails immediately and never open an attachment from an unknown sender.

The DATCP says Wisconsin consumers are receiving fake eviction notices by email that claim the recipient will be kicked off the premises "due to multiple violations." The emails also say the violations are available in an attached file; however, that file will infect your computer with malicious software.

The email messages also warn that recipients will suffer costs associated with the eviction proceedings. Again, not true. The messages seem to be coming from multiple email addresses, but end in a domain that belongs to a legitimate global law firm. The global law firm's name is being fraudulently used.
