Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- What appeared to be a scary situation today turned out to be a false alarm.
Police were alerted to reports of people stuck on the ice near the Duluth ship canal pier. In reality, it was a group of three people paddle boarding.
The United States Coast Guard says there are no regulations regarding where you can do water recreation activities around the pier, as long as you are aware of your surroundings and stay away from any vessel traffic.
You must wear a life jacket or, if you're in a boat, have it with you.
