Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Hermantown School Board gave the community a lot to cheer about Monday night.

Board members decided to reinstate funding for the Hawks Cheer team during their meeting.

The board had recently voted to eliminate the cheer leading program's funding as part of more than $250,000 in budget cuts for next year.

Cheerleaders and their supporters collected nearly one thousand signatures in support of the team.

They also rallied outside the high school last week.

The program has been in place for more than 60 years.
