Nome, AK (NNCNOW.com) - Nathan Schroeder, of Chisholm, made the top 20 list as he crossed the finished line at this year's Iditarod in Alaska

Schroeder came in 17th place, earning the title as 2014 rookie of the year.

The race featured some of the worst conditions teams in the 1,150 mile long race have ever seen.

Many teams scratched early due to crashes, broken sleds and musher injuries.

Schroeder reached the finish line after nine days, 17 hours, 52 minutes and 51 seconds.
