Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com)-- A research vessel that collects important information about Lake Superior is now part of Science Friday in Duluth.

The University of Minnesota Duluth's Large Lakes Observatory is inviting the public to come aboard the Blue Heron to explore more the scientific side of life.

Starting Friday, and throughout the summer, LLO will host the free event with different speakers every week. Organizers say the event will make science more appealing to a broader audience.

"It's very important to be interested in math and science. People use it everyday whether they know it or not," said Lisa Sundberg with the Large Lakes Observatory.

The event will run from today until October.
