Ely, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The border inspection station at the National Forest Service Complex in Ely, MN, will be open from May 24 through Sept. 6 for the summer tourist season.
"This border station serves individuals arriving from Canada via the Boundary Water Canoe Area. There are no roads into or out of Canada in this remote wilderness area," the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said.
The CBP says applications for the I–68 permit can be made in person at the Ely border station during normal business hours or at the Grand Portage Port of Entry.
This permit allows boaters to enter the U.S. from Canada for recreational purposes. The Ely station's hours will be from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. seven days a week.
