Chisholm, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Delta Air Line Call Center is the third largest employer on the Iron Range, and growing.

"It's gotten tons of awards. And that's because of the employees, and when you do good work, you get more good work, and that's what this is about today," said Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minnesota).

A $6 million investment loan from the IRRRB will help renovate and modernize the call center allowing for growth.

"The increase will get us up to 525 employees, we will be looking at doing so once the construction is over," said Tony Zupancich, the director of associate customer engagement.

Sen. Klobuchar toured the facility and was impressed with the sense of team moral and positive attitudes among the current 460 employees.
She said the challenge once the people are hired will be to make sure there is adequate housing.

"All kinds of things that we want to make sure are the best possible situation up here as we add more employees so people will come up here or come back here and work these jobs." Sen. Klobuchar said.

Interior construction is in the planning stages and could start as soon as December.

"It's gonna create a much better work environment for them. It's gonna be clean it's gonna new. It's gonna bring in areas of what we call collaboration areas, huddle areas. It's gonna make it a much more comfortable, friendly work environment.," said Zupancich.

The project is expected to take 18 months before the hiring begins.
