Washington, D.C. (NNCNOW.com) - Minnesota State Senator Roger Reinert (DFL-Duluth) who is on duty serving with the Navy Reserves in our nation's capital, says it's been nothing short of a tense day in D.C. following a shooting rampage that left 13 people dead.
"A heightened level of awareness for all of us in uniform and especially those of in the Navy. My thoughts and prayers are with those individuals' families, they didn't have a loved one come home tonight. This attack on the Navy Yard was an attack not only on the country, but the Navy in particular," he told KBJR 6 & Range 11's Kevin Jacobsen on the phone Monday night.
Senator Reinert says he was in close proximity to where the shooting happened, but was not at the Navy Yard.
