Northland business leaders are in Washington D.C. to push for a cross runway expansion at the Duluth International Airport.

Senator Al Franken met with the delegation Tuesday morning and pledged to support the project.

Franken cited the potential job growth the expansion would bring, as well as educational opportunities for Lake Superior College.

The group is requesting 30-million dollars from the federal government as part of a complete renovation of Duluth International Airport's primary runway, 9-27.

They will meet with key members of the Federal Aviation Administration Tuesday, along with Congressman Rick Nolan and Senator Amy Klobuchar.

Monday the delegation met with several high ranking officials at the Pentagon.
