Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A booth set up this weekend on Minnesota Avenue on Duluth's Park Point asked people to sign a petition that would force a recall of Duluth city councilor Sharla Gardner.
At the same time signs in support of councilor Gardner are beginning to show up at various places in the city.
Supporters of the recall say Councilor Gardner has not been listening to the voices of her constituents.
They say the primary drive behind the recall effort is safety and security regarding the closure of the Park Point fire hall.
Others, who disagree, say people shouldn't be signing petitions in support of a recall if they are not fully informed about the history.
"She is one of the people that advocated strongly for keeping the fire hall open on Park Point, which I felt, even though I don't live on Park Point, was a big deal. She's always been willing to stop and talk about any issue when she's out walking. She's very approachable," said concerned citizen Tamara Jones.
The recall effort has no deadline, but needs 586 signatures.
25 new signatures were added to the petition on Saturday.
Recall leaders have not said how many signatures they've collected so far.
