Duluth, Minn. (NNCNOW.com) -- For those who had the day off, the ski hills were the place to be after some fresh snow fell this afternoon.

Some skiers wore festive Santa hats as they made their way down the hills at Spirit Mountain.

For some it was their first time this season; and for others, an annual Christmas family get together.

"It's kind of a tradition I guess, we go skiing all the time so why not go on Christmas," said Miles Barnidge a skier from Duluth.

"I usually come here for Christmas just because it's a nice place to get away and my family all meets on different days so Christmas is open and it's beautiful," said Carmen Goldsmith another skier from Southern Minn.

Spirit Mountain will be open from 9am to 9pm through January 1.
