Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Christmas arrived early for dozens of Northland kids at the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth.
Santa, himself along with Mrs. Claus and Mayor Don Ness made a stop at the Mall on Friday night in the Port Town Trolley for the "Sleep Number Santa Slumber Party."
Mayor Ness read the special bedtime story "Santa Comes to Duluth" to a crowd of onlookers as Santa fell fast asleep.
With music by the Duluth Superior Youth Symphony Orchestra and Christmas-themed prizes, Santa's special helpers say Duluth is a magical place to start the Christmas cheer.
"This is the first place that he's come and he's going to be here until Christmas to listen to all the boys and girls Christmas wishes. On Saturday, after he wakes up, he will begin to listen to all the boys and girls Christmas wishes for the rest of the month and all into Christmas," said Santa's helper, Emerald Frost.
The holiday event continues bright and early Saturday morning at 8:30 with a Christmas carol to wake Santa from his slumber.
The event is free and open to the public.
Visits with Santa at the Miller Hill Mall runs Saturday through Christmas Eve near Barnes and Noble.
