Solon Springs, WI (NNCNOW.com) - As fun as it is, blowing off fireworks is technically labor on Labor Day, right?

But it was well worth the effort in Solon Springs tonight where dozens of people gathered to see a dazzling display.

The event is hosted by a group of pyrotechnic enthusiasts named Solon springs friends of fireworks, who said the event has gotten far too big for their front yards in the past five years.

Lead shooter, Duane Lottig says, there's a lot of satisfaction when things blow up right.

"You've got to be pyros to love it I guess, and that's what we are so, that's what I like the most out of it," he said.

Lottig says 50% of the donations from this year's show will go will go to the Solon Springs volunteer fire department. He says he hopes in the future that number will grow to 100%.
