Special MN Legislative Session Possible

August 8, 2013 Updated Aug 8, 2013 at 3:59 PM CDT

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The possibility of a special session for the Minnesota legislature is looking more likely following a letter exchange between both sides of aisle.

The session, proposed by Governor Mark Dayton would focus on providing disaster relief to 18 counties named in a federal declaration by President Obama.
Storms earlier this summer caused $17.8 million and resulted in the largest power outage in Minnesota history.

Lawmakers would also look at repealing sales tax on equipment for farmers to help in the aftermath of last year's drought and the long winter.

The Special Session would begin Monday, September 9th.
