Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com)--- They say good things come to those who wait... and that rings true for skiers and snowboarders hoping to hit the slopes at Spirit Mountain a few more times.
Spirit Mountain announced this week it will be extending its season.
The hill was set to close on Sunday, but the recent snow and below freezing temperatures are prime conditions to keep the slopes open.
Officials at Spirit Mountain say there is a high demand to ski right now because it was too cold for many people to get out to ski.
They say as long as conditions and business allow, they will stay open.
People on the hill today were thrilled with all the fresh powder and the chance to get out of the house.
"This is great. It's great when you get fresh snow, especially this late in the season, to have ski conditions like this, with the sun and great weather- it's beautiful," said Brent Feller.
"It's beautiful. we're excited to ski on the powder and enjoy the fresh snow," said Becky Delerme.
Spirit Mountain opened early this winter because of the cold, but then was forced to close seven days because of the polar vortex.
Revenue took a hit of 15 to 20 percent ...and officials say the extended season will help make up a chunk of that.
