The St Louis County Board was given a history lesson at its meeting Tuesday morning.
Dr. Linda LeGarde- Grover, an American Indian Studies professor at U-M-D, gave a presentation on past and present Native American life in St Louis County.
LeGarde-Grover thinks it's important to honor the Native American traditions and community and believes by speaking out about the importance of these values she will forge a stronger relationship between the native community and the county.
"In many ways we are thriving today. In so many ways our lives, we are blessed by what our Ancestors did to make it possible for us to continue today," said LeGarde-Grover.
As part of a new initiative for 2013, St. Louis County Commissioners are hosting presentations about the county's rich history at each meeting .
