Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- According to St. Louis County Board members, the county is "getting out of the nursing home business".
The Board voted this week to sell the Chris Jensen Nursing Home in Duluth to the company that has been managing it.
Health Dimensions Incorporated will pay $2.3 million for the home and its 24 acres of land.
At their meeting in Fredenburg Township, board members stated that the Chris Jensen facility cost them two-million dollars a year to run.
During the public comment period before the vote, Minnesota State Representative Mary Murphy voiced concern that the county was selling too much land in the deal.
"I was hoping if this Health Dimensions group could get along with less acreage, we could keep some acres for a future generation," says Rep. Murphy.
Health Dimensions Incorporated plans to spend nearly $6 million to renovate the Chris Jensen Home. Those plans include a new assisted living complex and senior citizen apartments.
