Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A newly remodeled section of St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth is designed to make rehabilitation a more comfortable process for patients and their families.
The Duluth Chamber of Commerce was on site at the remodeled inpatient rehabilitation unit, on the hospital's eighth floor, to cut the red ribbon Thursday.
The wing features a large patient gym, and a private gym for patients who need a more private setting.
According to rehab unit medical director Samuel Laney, it's part of the hospital's effort to look out for the person as a whole.
"Sometimes people do need privacy, and other times people need to be brought out in the world," said Dr. Laney. "There's a time for a patient to be completely focused on a therapist to try to learn a technique."
Laney says an average of 12 to 16 patients are utilizing St. Luke's rehabilitative unit every day.
