Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- 420 motorists were arrested for DWI over the weekend in Minnesota with another 75 arrests made on St. Patrick's Day.

Extra DWI patrols were out in force over the last four days pulling over impaired drivers. Officials say the arrest count will rise even higher as information is submitted to the department of public safety.

Alcohol–related crashes account for one–third of Minnesota's total traffic deaths each year. 2014 is off to a deadly start with 58 traffic deaths so far, compared to 54 at this time last year.
