Standards of Care Act Passes House Panel
St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) - The Standards of Care Act passed the Minnesota House Health and Human Services Policy Committee Friday with amendments. Negotiations between the Minnesota Nurses and Hospital Associations have resulted in an agreement that recognizes what the nurses are calling a crisis of patient safety. If the Act becomes law hospitals would report online the actual direct patient care hours for regulators and consumers to examine. The data would also go to the state Department of Health to conduct a study of staffing levels. The measure now moves on to the state senate when it will be heard Monday by the Health, Human Services, and Housing Committee.
