Strong storms hit the Northland Overnight

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Strong storms hit the Northland last night.
Superior Street and 3rd Avenue East in Duluth, where water lifted a manhole cover. Meanwhile, the Duluth Fire Department says they responded to three separate lightning strikes last night.

One off Greene Street in West Duluth knocked out power to a home. The second near the 1400 block of east Superior Street hit a chimney of an apartment building, destroying the chimney and starting a fire on the adjacent roof. The strike created a hole in the roof, causing extensive water damage.

A third strike near Owatonna Street in the Woodland neighborhood caused a fire in a home, which caused $40,000 dollars in damages. No one was hurt as a result of any of the strikes.
