Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com)--- With the holidays comes the spirit of giving...and students within the Edison School District in Duluth have been doing just that.

Over the last few weeks, Raleigh Charter Edison and Northstar Academy students have held a food drive with all donations going to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Today the kids loaded up the food bank truck with nine hundred sixty-two food and personal hygiene items, all donated for those in need.

For the students, it's a lesson in being a part of something bigger than themselves.

"It's important to raise awareness to our school that people are in need, even in our own city and think its important that everyone gets involved too.," said 8th grader Lorien Gunsolus.

"It's really cool to know that you're helping people that don't have what we do, that maybe don't get a meal every night, said 7th grader Madison Rognerud.

In addition to the food, the school also raised $237.00 to donate to the food bank as well.
