Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) – The fresh snow left roads pretty slippery today and while that's not good for motorists many students were rejoicing in a day off school.

Ahhh, a snow day! A day many hope for every time it snows.
The call was made early Tuesday morning that Duluth Schools would close.
School District transportation personnel were up around 3:30 A-M checking weather reports and road conditions to make their decision.

"Today, I woke up and we didn't have any school and my mom told me. I wasn't even gonna go today, but then my friend Cole called and asked if I wanted to come up and I said sure and we came up here and all of my other friends were up here and we ended up riding today." Said Tate Smith, a student taking advantage of his day off of school.

Many slopes were seeing some action today as students traded in their normal classes for lessons in gravity and lack of friction.

"It's a little windy, powdery, not the best, but still it's fun to get out there and snowboard." Said Gavin John, another student hitting the slopes.

Spirit Mountain officials say they were pretty busy and with more snow on the way, they're planning on keeping the momentum going downhill through tomorrow.
