Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Even though neither the Packers nor the Vikings are playing in the Super Bowl this weekend, but that's not keeping northlanders from watching the big game.

When it comes to sports, there is nothing like a little "spirited" competition.

"When guests come in we have them pick a team and then when that team scores they might get half off drinks until the next score just different fun things like that," said Aaron Haugen, one of the manager at Little Angies.

Some of the bars in the northland are hosting super bowl parties to encourage people to come watch super bowl 47.

"And then we do our homemade pizza's for halftime, we are also giving away prizes with every quarter with a bigger prize for the final," said Manager of The Shack, Diane Munger.

But if you are a student looking to watch the game in a different venue, UWS will be showing the game in the Marcovich Wellness Center.

The gym is a good area to play sports, come Sunday it will be turned into a viewing area for the big game.

"Awesome, this is fun, this our 6th year in doing a sober super bowl party, we call it our Football Frenzy Finale...and what we do is pretty much convert the wellness center gym into a living room for the students," said Krisi Patterson Assistant Director of UW-Superior's recreation center.

"I'm watching it in the wellness center here with the rest of the team...the track team, we are going to make a group thing out of it," said Nick Donahue, a student at UW-Superior.

Or maybe you have your own plans for the big game.

"We are going to have a big party at our house because we have a 70 inch television and we want to see it live like we are sitting there in the middle of the action," said Penny Dieryck, a football fan.

You can tune into KDLH 3 at 5:30 on Sunday to watch the big game.
