Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) -- The Superior City Council passed a resolution in opposition of the closing of the Duluth Post Office Distribution Center.

The distribution center is one of four centers in Minnesota that are set to close early next year due to postal financial strains.

If the distribution center were to close, it would affect mail delivery in Superior, Spooner and several other smaller towns in Northwest Wisconsin.

The council also tabled a resolution to approve the plans for the Harbor Waterfront Hotel Project.

The $9 million project would be a 75 room hotel on Barker's Island.

Hotel builders would like to have the hotel built by July of 2015.
