Superior, WI (Northland's NewsCenter) - Thursday was a day at the races for 5th grade students in Superior.

About 300, fifth graders packed the University of Wisconsin Superior's Marcovich Wellness Center for Superior Public School's annual Track-O-Rama.

Besides competing in a variety of track and field events the elementary students also had a chance to learn from Physical Education majors at UWS about living healthy and active lives.

Event organizers say without the help of these students the event wouldn't be possible.

"This is a great way, we get high school kids coming to help out, we alson have a lot of UWS physical education majors here that are helping out it's a real community event here in Superior," said Corey Olson with Cooper Elementary School.

The Track-O-Rama event concluded with a giant tug-of-war between the schools.
