Superior WI, (NNCNOW.com) --- The City of Superior now has a new fire chief and six new firefighters.

Fire Chief Steve Panger was sworn in at a ceremony Thursday afternoon at the Government Center.

Panger has been with the fire department for 19 years and has served as Fire Captain and Acting Battalion Chief.

Six new firefighters were sworn in while six veteran firefighters were promoted; two to Captain and four to motor pump operators.

As Chief, Panger said fire response, rescue, emergency medical services, hazardous material response and fire prevention will continue to be at the core of service.

"We will work to keep costs as low as possible for our tax payers,” he said. “We will look to innovate ways to replace losses and shared revenues for the state."

The Superior Fire Department responds to 3,200 calls annually.
