Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) - In a tribute to a long time local radio and television icon, the Superior City Council declared Tuesday as Jack McKenna day.
Fellow friends and family members attended tonight's city council meeting to accept the honor on behalf of McKenna.
The long time weather man for KBJR and WDIO passed away last month at the age of 91.
"When he died it was really an end to an era, because he started in early, early TV and radio, right here after he came home from World War II, he went right onto radio," said McKenna's son, John.
The family has decided to hold funeral services in June.
