Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) - A Superior, Wis., duplex was filled with smoke this morning off Hughitt Avenue. It took firefighters about ten minutes to fight the porch fire.
Residents in the downstairs area of the apartments were safely evacuated and no one was injured.
The Superior Fire Department rotated three engine companies in and out of the building in order to avoid the firefighters catching frostbite.
"First crews made initial entry and found a small fire in the back porch, which they thought had extended into the basement," Superior Battalion Chief, Steve Edwards, said. "They got the fire put out right away. It hadn't extended into the basement, just a lot of smoke."
Fire investigators are still on scene trying to determine the cause of the fire and estimate damages. The owner of the duplex arrived at the scene once the fire was extinguished in order to speak with fire investigators.
