Cass Lake, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- A Cass Lake man is behind bars Friday, Aug., 22 after holding a woman hostage and making threats with a weapon.

Authorities say 31-year-old Christopher Morris–Headbird barricaded himself in a home and held a woman hostage as he allegedly made threats with a firearm.

On Wednesday, Aug. 20, just before 3 a.m. the Cass County Sheriff's Office called in the Emergency Response Unit.

Authorities say, after a lengthy negotiation, terms were agreed upon and the suspect surrendered the weapon and he and the hostage were taken out of the home.

The suspect remains in custody.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Leech Lake Tribal Police, the MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and Leech Lake Ambulance.
