Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.COM) --- The Northland community joined together in support of The co-host of The Average Guys on Public Access Community Television, who is battling brain cancer.

Jon Donahue, a West Duluth native, has undergone surgery to remove his brain tumor.

He is currently recovering from that surgery and a stroke that paralyzed his left side and is receiving daily radiation and chemotherapy treatments.

Dozens of people turned out for a spaghetti dinner and silent auction at Mr. D's Bar and Grill in Duluth on Saturday.

Radio-talk show personality Neil Atkins and former Duluth Mayor Herb Bergson served as hosts and Duluth Mayor Ness was also in attendance.

Family and friends say the support from the community is overwhelming.

"Jon has clearly been out of work for a while,” Gregory Clements, a neighbor and friend said. “We don't know when his recovery will get him back on his feet and able to work. We are very pleased that the community could come together.”

Donahue's wife Lisa is a cancer survivor of five years.

They have three young children.

If you'd like to help the family, donations can be dropped off or mailed to any Wells Fargo bank in Duluth.
