Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) - Strengthening the relationship between parent's teachers and the community is the goal of Duluth city officials and school board members.
Parents, teachers and students learned more about the Duluth School District at the second annual Youth of Duluth Community Night at the historic old central gymnasium.
The three–hour event also gave some eager kids a chance to have some after–school fun.
Officials say the Youth of Duluth program, which combines academics with physical activities and helps bridge the achievement gap, and brings students together.
"We're closing the achievement gap. It's the same mission that Superintendent Bill Gronseth has, Mayor Ness, as well as our principals in our schools. We just want to bring everybody together is what we're trying to do," Duane Byrd, Youth of Duluth Program Director, said.
The Youth of Duluth program runs everyday, from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. and is free and open to students.
